Dr. James Patterson to Speak on Recent American History in Spivey Hall, October 11
Distinguished American historian and Ford Foundation Professor of History at Brown University Dr. James T. Patterson will be coming to Clayton State University on Tuesday, Oct. 11 to give a presentation based on his new book, Restless Giant: The United States from Watergate to Bush v. Gore.

Clayton State Nurses Serve in Mississippi

Two teams of 12 nurses each left the campus of Clayton State University on Sept. 6, bound for the State of Mississippi to take part in the disaster relief effort in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Number One for 2005/06 – Improve Student Success

That’s what Clayton State President Dr. Thomas K. Harden told his faculty and staff audience at Thursday’s annual State of the University Address in Spivey Hall.
On the heels of the 2004/05 academic year, one he termed a “very productive year,” Harden looked ahead to the 2005/06 academic year and announced the establishment of two committees.

One of Clayton State University’s Strategic Planning Themes refers to the importance of student-related programs that, “will focus on cultural, social, and intellectual development of both commuting and residential students. Clayton State Constitution Day to Open with NARA Historic Display
Clayton State University’s celebration of the upcoming Constitution Day will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 7 when a special historic display, on loan from the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) Southeastern Regional Archives, will open in the Clayton State University Center.

Clayton State University’s celebration of the upcoming Constitution Day will incorporate no less than seven events for students, faculty, staff and the public. Spread over 10 days to give everyone a chance to participate, Clayton State’s Constitution “Day” will include civic engagement opportunities, public displays and presentations and a voter registration drive.

Clayton State Partners With Circuit Rider Archivist Program
The Circuit Rider is coming to Georgia and Clayton State.
Dr. Randall Gooden is the Circuit Rider for the Georgia Archives, working throughout the state and serving as an assistant professor of History at Clayton State University, with his teaching load beginning in 2006.
Clayton State University Through the Years – Homecoming Oct. 15
Clayton State University is getting ready for a very special Homecoming 2005 on Saturday, Oct. 15. This will be the University’s first Homecoming as Clayton State University and the theme of this year’s event reflects the changes the school has experienced “Through the Years.”

Here and Back Again – Staff Sergeant (Mama) Sanders Returns to Iraq

Morrow, Ga. July 14, 2005 – She’s been a soldier since 1974, serving her first active tour of duty in Ft. Eustis, VA and remaining on active duty until 1984. She joined the Army Reserves the first time from 1984-1989 and then had an eleven year break before joining the Reserves a second time in 2000. Now, Staff Sergeant Jamye Sanders has gone to war and is serving her second active tour in 20 years in Iraq.

Hungarian Ambassador and Trade Delegation Visit Morrow
Hungarian Ambassador to the United States Andras Simonyi and a senior trade delegation from Hungary visited the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) Southeastern Archives in Morrow, as well as other Atlanta locations, from June 14 to June 16, to boost U.S./Hungarian business ties.
